Greetings to all! I cannot believe that August is upon us. This summer has been a whirlwind at KCSEC. The winds of change have definitely blown through our organization. We have many new faces joining us this year. As of today we will have 450 staff members at our KCSEC Opening Day. This is absolutely incredible! Our Administrative Team has collaboratively decided on our theme for Opening Day 2007-2008 as “Building Pathways to Our Future at KCSEC”. It is exciting to be a member of this awesome team building these pathways together.
As we look forward to the beginning of the year, I challenge our returning staff and encourage our new staff to reenergize their thoughts around the FISH! Philosophy. There are four simple steps to follow that can truly change the way you face each day. Choose your attitude! Your attitude is contagious, so why not make your attitude worth catching. Mac Anderson, founder of Successories said “One of the most wonderful things about having a positive attitude is the number of people it touches, many times in ways you’ll never know.“ Play! I love to laugh and thankfully laughing is healthy. Please take a minute or two each day to find the magic of play in your classrooms and school buildings. Make Their Day! Everyone loves a friendly face and a helping hand. Share a welcoming smile to a visitor or a new staff member. This creates great memories. Be There! You need to be fully engaged in your work and attentive to the building, classroom and students’ needs. This investment that you make to our programs is priceless.
“Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.”
~Helen Keller
KCSEC is a team of professionals working together for a common goal of “All students can learn”. Each one of you adds an essential piece to our team that has the potential to make the difference in the life of a child. Every day presents a unique opportunity for you to make that difference. Be a risk taker and face each challenge with excitement and enthusiasm.
“Coming together is a beginning; keeping together is progress; working together is success.”
~Henry Ford
Sincerely,
Lynda Shanks
